Riverdale becomes"South Riverdale" south of Gerrard. Did I say South enough times?

My average neighbour is – 30-40’s, married graphic designer or TV producer with 2 kids

What do you love about your neighborhood?  Close to downtown, family-friendly feel, beautiful architecture, and who wouldn’t have a soft spot for the neighborhood where Joey Jeremiah came of age?

Classic Victorian row houses in So-Riv

What do you like least about your neighborhood?  Jilly’s

What do you wish you knew before you bought in the area?  That gentrification would be a slowww process.  While Queen has vastly improved since we moved to the area, there is a still a lot of grit and I’m doubtful that Queen East will ever be the “new Queen West”.

The best baguettes this side of France. A great place to waste a morning unless have a problem with smelling like yeast for the rest of the day.

Best places to dine?  Bonjour Brioche , Table 17, The Burger Shoppe , Batifole

Best places to caffeinate?  Dark Horse

Best places to get boozy? Picnic, Comrade

Best places to shop?  Christina Bergstrom, Philz, Hardware, the Mac store

Best places to toss a frisbee?  Riverdale Park, Cherry Beach

Best street / worst street and why?

Best street:  Degrassi St – Gorgeous street with Victorian stunners and gingerbread cottages. Just bursting with charm and the best street to live on as long as you don’t mind the GO Train at the southern tip of the street.

Worst street:  First Ave – Backing onto the seedier part of Gerrard makes for some interesting local “flavour” but most annoyingly, an inevitable mouse problem.

Must drive or TTC friendly?  The Broadview streetcar is a speedy, reliable route to the subway line and the 501 Queen streetcar takes around 20 minutes in rush hour to Yonge.
